We have put our heart into this so fully, over the last 4 months refining and honing what we learned this last year.

We’ve taken everything we intuit and dream about stewarding adolescents and infused it into this offering. We are so excited to get this rolling!

Our year-long mentorship offering with deep land immersion and rites of passage components serves girls grades 6th-8th, and will alternate monthly Sunday meetings in Portland and on some gorgeous land in Corbett.

Last weekend we had another round of StoryCraft, this time generously hosted by the Whitefeathers at their yurt in Camas, about 45 minutes outside of Portland. @unbound.network

StoryCraft is a regularly occurring event for families where a story is told, a craft is made, and a council is shared to bring the story and the craft together in our hearts, minds, and imaginations.

This time, Magnolia told the story of Tatterhood, a norse fairy tale about the wild twin who is able to meet the wilderness within with delicious, ferocious aliveness. Magnolia brought in suggestions and ideas from the children during the story, which made for some fun improvisational moments!

Then we made wild twin dolls foraged from natural materials. Everyone got involved, even the parents!

Finally, Shea led us in a lovely council to explore what we can learn about our own “wild twin” from the nature dolls we created. She had us hooting and howling with the expression of our unrestrained silliness!

We carry a shared devotion to re-member the sacred task of raising youth in community, and creating intentional spaces to nurture an essence of village that is kind of hard to find these days. We trust in the power of thresholds and becoming. We believe in community witnessing.

The passage into and through adolescence is an arc, with multiple rites and ceremonies needed along the way.

To be a Village Auntie is to walk beside, to tend the fire of curiosity, and to model the courage it takes to be a fully embodied and present human. To be a soft and strong mirror, to shine light and create trust within a container so that we can skillfully explore whatever kinds of emotions, confusions, and curiosities need to arise.

We hold that every girl and teen already contains the wisdom she needs — our role is to help her trust it.

This is the time year where I (Shea) really get illuminated and inspired about being on the land with kids in the summer time.

I start prepping the oils for medicine making, and collecting all sorts of beautiful things to make with our hands.

A taste of what we’re offering at Wheel of the Wild Gatherings this summer:
🌸hands on wildcrafting (like medicine making, bundle dyeing, salves, essences etc)

🍃altar building & elemental exploration

An honoring and remembering that we all come from lineages rooted in collective witnessing, and ceremony around thresholds. Beautifully, there are many lineages whose threshold and rites of passage practices are in tact and thriving. ✨

There are many of us also, achingly, who have been disconnected or severed from the practices of our lineages and gatherings. We all still carry the deep human need to be witnessed in transformation.

Since we are all remembering how to be in this together, we want to call in the support of families to co-weave these honoring with us. The wisdom is not lost.

This offering is for the threshold ceremonies for the feminine, with as little or as much guidance as is desired.

We also anchored to an inner ally, the strong one inside that knows how to nurture and tend, teaching how to return here.

At Wild Rivers Collective, we always energetically welcome whatever part of us is here, and only after that can a choice be made about how to be with it. So how do you welcome the unconscious experience of the scrolling spell? No definitive answer here, but you could try being creative and expressing it as it’s happening. It helps me! -Mags

Today we talked about masking, why we do it, what it feels like in our bodies to pretend, and how becoming more authentic isn’t just about speaking our own truth but being willing to listen to another’s truth, and manage our own responses to that. Authenticity=self responsibility.

We played games around masking and not masking, and locating yes/no in our bodies.

Learning to identify when we mask and why is so vital, and asking ourselves…can I take my mask off here? Will my authenticity be handled with care?
