Our spring mentorship groups are alive and open to the young feminine ages 8-12. We are delighted to continue our offering of a 10- week mentorship program. Running April-June, 15 spots available in each cohort!

Today we talked about masking, why we do it, what it feels like in our bodies to pretend, and how becoming more authentic isn’t just about speaking our own truth but being willing to listen to another’s truth, and manage our own responses to that. Authenticity=self responsibility.

We played games around masking and not masking, and locating yes/no in our bodies.

Learning to identify when we mask and why is so vital, and asking ourselves…can I take my mask off here? Will my authenticity be handled with care?

Can you imagine pre-teen and teenage relationships built on full honesty and transparency? Young people have so much capacity to embody truth and receive truth, they just need safe places to practice.

A little glimpse into Shea’s monthly beauty offering for Mamas.

“Thank you, thank you for this evening. I feel so held and connected ❤️”

“Thank you again for MotheLove yesterday, Shea. I have been floating along since then. I needed that replenishment even more than I knew.”

This is a monthly space of nourishment for mamas, for replenishing inner waters.

This is a ceremony of softening, surrender, yin nourishment and cultivating a spaciousness that nurtures fertile creative flow. A soft landing, a return to heart, a cleansing of the inner waters. So much can be transmuted through softness and collective witnessing.

I imbued the power of certain plant allies into the ceremony as well, as I have found their nurturance to help me hold the space in ways that allow for even more depth and support. This time we worked with Cedar, ancestral bridge, water tree.

Here we explore how trust builds over time, and play leads to greater vulnerability and connection in council

Here we explore how trust builds over time, and play leads to greater vulnerability and connection in council

We often do different “levels” of a game, which gives more depth, and gives permission for different forms of engagement.

This level is a sillier, less cerebral “dance battle” version of the characters interacting.

Ah, what sweet relief to allow oneself to just move around the room as a grumbling troll!

How much more energy would flow through our bodies if we had outlets to joyfully inhabit the aspects of ourselves that are less accommodating to our overly-domesticated culture?

And the amazing thing is, we had a serious, beautiful council process right after this! Tears flowed, empathy felt.

Through movement, through acting out different scenarios, and their favorite: through dance battles! (Next video shows this)

It’s amazing to see how giving different options for expression gives permission for different levels of comfort and different styles of exploration. Some girls want to be loud, exuberant, silly, while others want to be quieter, more focused on the movements, and others want to focus on the content of the scenario and engage more through the mind. All is welcome.

Another amazing aspect of this work is that we put a game like this before council process, which is where we invite deeper, more vulenerable shares of what is challenging in the girls’ lives right now, and where are places where they feel themselves being stretched into new growth. What we are finding is that just having an expressive game like this beforehand is supporting deeper opening in the council process afterwards.

Exploring the joy of allowing complaining to be fully present and embodied, and the genuine appreciation that can grow from a body-mind that isn’t inhibited or constrained by a “should” (aka im not allowed or supposed to complain. I’m supposed to be grateful all the time!)

Mentorship Group Game Demo-

A big pillar of our cohorts is our nature sit spot/mindful moment. The girls love it, and make sure that we never skip it.

They have field journals they’ve collaged, and each time we give a prompt, like-

“Find one thing outside that seems to draw you in closer and one thing that repels you or pushes you away.

See if you can track how you fee both of these experiences in the body. What does it feel like to be drawn in? What is the sensation of wanting to move away?

Can you write or draw what you feel?”

Another time, we asked the group to find something outside that conveyed a sense of strength, or softness, or secrecy, etc.

This is how we support the next generation to be grounded in Presence. To approach each moment with a friendly curiosity towards their own experience.

We will dive deep into an original myth of the Chimera,
and let this story guide the ship of our journey.

Three Pillars of the Chimera Club:

1. Mindfulness Training: Tracking the Wild Moment

-When we can calmly note what a moment is made of (i.e. seeing, hearing or feeling) then we cannot get stuck in confusion or get carried away by fear or anxiety. This is the foundation for everything else we explore in this group!

-Girls will learn how to “surf” the waves of the present moment and stay in a calm, curious center

-Girls will have a Sit-Spot where they learn to track the outer landscape, then apply this skills to tracking their own inner Sit-Spot

-This builds resilience, concentration, and empowerment to be able to move through the joys and sorrows of life with a sense of basic ease, curiosity, and underlying joy.

2. Freeing the River of Aliveness: Skillfully Navigating the Raw Energies of Emotion

-We will open a creative, expressive space to embody the different perspectives that live within

-This “stage” will welcome the full range of emotions/thoughts/feelings that a person can have. When we can fully and safely allow, we can also disidentify from and gain a bigger perspective on what is possible in a moment of stuckness or challenge

-Girls will learn about the Inner Critic/Inner Protectors and how to honor them without letting their presence take over and shut down creative flow

3. Creative Expression honoring Self and Other: Finding Our Ways to Praise

-Each week we will gather together as a council to explore, embody, express, craft, and share.

- we will explore the art of ritual and self-designing rituals for self-care and deeper connection

We’re coming off of a magically sweet week in Colton @templeofbelonging where we journeyed with a group of girls ages 7-12 and culminated in a beautiful passage through the belly of the Great Goddess Mother.

We explored our facets and weirdness, we crawled on waterfalls, we spun ourselves into human knots, we made incense and stepped in and out of our yes’s and no’s. We journeyed up and down as we felt the story of a girl named Candle come alive within us as Magnolia unfolded the journey.

It is a story of an inner spark and spiraling to the center when the light seems all but lost. The truth is that there is only One who holds the key to the inner door 🔑 💙. And only the holder of the key knows what is True. As Magnolia says, this story is alive in all of us.

Gratitude to @rooted.breathwork for leading us in a beautiful exploration of up-regulating and down-regulating breath that matched the story and @noeljeanninephoto for teaching the girls how to knit, a handicraft that carried us through the week.

It’s happening, dreams coming true! We have been dreaming up accessibility to our programs and are elated to announce that @willamettehealthcouncil has awarded us 10k in funding to support an after school Chimera Club mentorship group for girls ages 9-13.

Another Wild Rivers Collective game!

We are so excited to announce one of our fall offerings in the greater Portland area:

Chimera Club~~ A Girls Mentorship Group

Calling in the vibrant feminine! This is a weekly creative empowerment council group that will run for 3 months, mid Sept-mid Dec.

We will dive deep into an original myth of the Chimera,
and let this story guide the ship of our journey.

Three Pillars of the Chimera Club:

1. Mindfulness Training: Tracking the Wild Moment

-When we can calmly note what a moment is made of (i.e. seeing, hearing or feeling) then we cannot get stuck in confusion or get carried away by fear or anxiety. This is the foundation for everything else we explore in this group!

-Girls will learn how to “surf” the waves of the present moment and stay in a calm, curious center

-Girls will have a Sit-Spot where they learn to track the outer landscape, then apply this skills to tracking their own inner Sit-Spot

-This builds resilience, concentration, and empowerment to be able to move through the joys and sorrows of life with a sense of basic ease, curiosity, and underlying joy.

2. Freeing the River of Aliveness: Skillfully Navigating the Raw Energies of Emotion

-We will open a creative, expressive space to embody the different perspectives that live within

-This “stage” will welcome the full range of emotions/thoughts/feelings that a person can have. When we can fully and safely allow, we can also disidentify from and gain a bigger perspective on what is possible in a moment of stuckness or challenge

-Girls will learn about the Inner Critic/Inner Protectors and how to honor them without letting their presence take over and shut down creative flow

3. Creative Expression honoring Self and Other: Finding Our Ways to Praise

-Each week we will gather together as a council to explore, embody, express, craft, and share.

-girls will come away from this group in deeper contact with joyful curiosity, bold confidence, inner clarity and peace, compassion for themselves and others, and wonder at the mysteries of life
